Federal Issues
- Support legislative and regulatory initiatives designed to promote increased production of domestically produced conventional and certain alternative fuels, including incentives for domestically-produced alternative transportation fuels such as CNG and required infrastructure; domestic fuel production; and enhanced production techniques such as hydraulic fracturing. This support is not extended to the production and use of ethanol.
Removing dependence on foreign energy sources and boosting domestic capacity requires both increased production of these resources and broad-based infrastructure for their easy use. We support legislation similar to Congressman Sullivan’s efforts to promote alternative energy production and infrastructure development for Oklahoma’s natural resources, as well as incentives designed to increase capacity for the use of these fuels.
- Support the relocation of the Page Belcher Federal Courthouse.
The Page Belcher Federal Courthouse was built before current security standards were in place, and now faces numerous challenges. In addition, the U.S. Post Office has moved the sorting process to another location, leaving much of the postal area unused and unsecure. The courthouse’s current location, near the Tulsa Convention Center and BOK Center, is ideal for additional convention hotel and retail development. Moving the courthouse would provide the federal judiciary with a more secure, modern facility and allow the U.S. Post Office a more appropriately-sized facility downtown.
